Protesters changing "Libya! Libya!" called on authorities to expedite their investigation into the disaster, for the UN to set up an office in Derna, for the urgent reconstruction of the city and for compensation for those affected by the flood.
Transcript
00:00 Angry protests in the Libyan city of Derna. One week after a huge flash flood shattered
00:06 the area, residents accused Marshal Jalifa Haftar`s government of inaction in the face
00:12 of the catastrophe.
00:15 They`re calling for the unification of the country after years of conflict.
00:19 Unfortunately, people are in a state of shock. No one heard their voice except the armed
00:26 forces. The other thing that is very important in this matter is that people`s demands are
00:33 not heard. They`re sensitive. The parliamentarians, unfortunately, changed the person accused
00:40 of harming the city. They changed him and put him in the same group. People are in a
00:49 state of shock.
00:51 The tension erupted hours after the United Nations drastically revised down the cyclone`s
00:57 death toll to approximately 4,000. But the survivors now living amid the wreckage desperately
01:03 need aid, as health officials warn that outbreaks of disease from contaminated water could bring
01:09 a second devastating crisis.
