00:29 Jumbo-Visma have dominated the race and they're set to lock out the overall podium,

00:33 but don't try telling them they're in for a relaxing day.

00:36 If you think with 4000 altimeters, stage 20 in a Grand Tour can be a quiet day,

00:43 then this is your first Grand Tour you are watching.

00:46 I don't expect anything quiet, it will be really hard.

00:50 We are ready to control the race.

00:54 We wish for at least a bit of quietness, but I think it will be a super hard day.

02:30 There are 207.8km to cover on stage 20, with no fewer than 10 climbs, all of them third category.

02:38 It's going to be an exhausting day in the saddle, constantly up and down.

02:42 It should suit a strong breakaway, but it's also going to be fascinating to see if any of the GC riders decide to shake things up.

02:49 Well, everyone was expecting Ebenepoel to go up the road today and rightly so,

03:00 the Belgian getting involved in the early skirmishes.

03:03 Marc Soler was also looking keen, leading the way over the first climb of the day.

03:09 It took around 20km for the breakaway to get the green light from the peloton, a big group of 31 riders going clear.

03:15 Ebenepoel was in there with three team mates and so were three other stage winners at this race,

03:20 Krohn, Leonard Kemner and Rui Costa.

03:22 Other big names included Geraint Thomas, Wout Poels, Hugh Carthy, Romain Bardet and Lenny Martinez.

03:28 Jumbo Visma, who had Wilco Kelderman up the road, soon let the gap creep out to a cabaret.

03:35 The best placed on GC was Ebenepoel, almost 28 minutes down on Sep Kuss.

03:40 This would be another one for the breakaway.

03:42 Well, despite the lumpy terrain, the average speed was over 45km/h in the first hour

03:51 and in the end only four teams missed the move, Little Trek, Cofidis, Total Energies and Astana Kazakhstan.

04:01 The climbs continuing to come thick and fast here in the community of Madrid,

04:06 north-west of the capital city, with the gap soon swelling out to over six minutes.

04:11 The race settling down into a familiar pattern, with the average speed dropping a little,

04:17 for the time being there were no big moves up front, with the 31 leaders working well together.

04:27 And if anyone did try to attack, Sudal Quick-Step had the numbers to shut them down.

04:33 Pelayo Sanchez going on the move for Burgos BH, but he soon had Mattia Cattaneo for company

04:39 and they were brought back on the descent.

04:53 Well, heading on to the final few climbs, Sudal Quick-Step decided to take control of the breakaway,

04:58 with James Knox, Cattaneo and Louis Fafarka pacing for Ebenepoel.

05:02 Their combined efforts soon began to thin out the front group.

05:06 Now we start to see a big attack from Well Pals.

05:13 This is a big move and it's putting Sudal Quick-Step under a lot of pressure here.

05:20 Well Pals, another winner of Liege-Bastogne-Liege, putting the hammer down on the final climb

05:24 and the only man who could hold his wheel was Lennart van Eetveldt.

05:27 Solaire was fighting to come across, followed by Ebenepoel and Sanchez,

05:32 but it looked like game over for the rest of the front group.

05:35 There were also a couple of half-hearted attacks in the peloton on the same climb,

05:48 but Primoz Roglic was on hand to protect Jumbo-Visma's race leader Sepp Kuss.

05:52 Of the top ten, only Kian Utterbroecks lost a bit of time.

05:56 So five men set to contest the stage victory, Ebenepoel, Sanchez, Poels, van Eetveldt and Solaire.

06:19 and Wout Pals rounds the final left-hand corner and he's trying to get the jump.

08:29 but the Aussie should keep hold of that green jersey tomorrow as he goes for glory in Madrid.

08:39 He'll take the polka dot jersey by a huge margin of 84 points from Wingergaard.

08:44 Having finished third overall last year, Ayuso will have to make do with fourth this time around,

08:55 20 stages down, one to go. The riders will roll their way into Madrid tomorrow before a final bunch sprint.
