Are you starting University in the next few weeks? Or are you a year off from heading to halls, and are curious as to what your options are? Well next we’ll take a look at just where the UK’s universities ranked in the newest Times and Sunday Times guide.

00:00 The Times and the Sunday Times' Good University Guide 2024, which is the 30th edition of the

00:05 ranking, has been published. The eagerly anticipated list has revealed the best academic institutions

00:10 for the next financial year. Coming out on top was University of St Andrews, which has

00:15 usurped the place of the University of Oxford, which was ranked first last year and comes

00:20 in second on this year's list. Ranked third was University of Cambridge. In fourth came

00:25 London's School of Economics and Political Science, and in fifth came Imperial College

00:30 London. Helen Davies, editor of the Good University Guide, said, "The higher education landscape

00:36 has never been tougher. It is more competitive to get a place at our top institutions. The

00:42 cost of attending university has soared, leaving graduates with extraordinary debt, and in

00:47 many cases, campus life still bears the scars of the pandemic." She went on to say that

00:53 lecturers on strike and the marketing crisis is a running scandal.
