Actor and musician Jared Leto talks about his SAG-AFTRA support and new album on the red carpet for the 2023 MTV VMAs.

00:02 Good. I'm tucking my hair behind my ears like yours. I'm copying you right now.

00:06 I feel like we have a very similar style going on.

00:08 It's falling on my face because I'm so tall with these boots.

00:11 Today's a celebration. Our album comes out in three days.

00:15 30 Seconds of Mars, a brand new album. Three days. It's been five years.

00:20 So it's a celebration. It's called It's the End of the World, but it's a Beautiful Day.

00:24 We wrote over 200 songs, whittled it down to 11.

00:28 We're getting close to it being out, so I couldn't be happier.

00:32 Very quickly, I wanted to ask, we're of course in the middle of the writers and actors strikes right now.

00:37 How do you feel about the current state of things?

00:39 Well, I support actors 1,000%.

00:44 It's important for people to be treated fairly, to get paid well, to be able to make a living.

00:52 Those are things that people deserve.

00:55 I remember when I was a young actor, I came to Hollywood and I got my SAG card, how proud I was.

01:00 How important that was.

01:03 In fact, I had insurance and I could fix my tooth.

01:06 I had a cavity.

01:09 I had a basic ability to live and take care of myself.

01:13 It was very important to me, so I support that fully.
