00:00 My name is Katie Loudon, I'm the SNP candidate in the Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election.

00:08 So we're currently standing in Stonelaw Road in Burnside and we're here this afternoon

00:13 to visit some small businesses and to have a chat to them.

00:16 So I've got a couple of people today, I've got Ian Blackford is over today and Neil Gray

00:19 is here as well and we're looking forward to going in and speaking to some businesses

00:22 about some of the challenges that they're facing just now and some of the opportunities

00:26 they've got as well.

00:27 We're getting very good feedback on the doorstep, the campaign's going really well.

00:32 I'm proud of the records which I'm standing on in the SNP and the records which I'm standing

00:37 on in council in the SNP as well.

00:39 So I'm well known in the area, people are pleased to see us, they're pleased to see

00:43 us coming out as well.

00:44 This is the important part, is coming out and listening to people's priorities and people's

00:48 concerns as well.

00:50 And what's also cutting through is just the bit of the mess which Labour are in at the

00:54 moment.

00:55 So Starmer is saying one thing when he comes up here when he deigns to come and visit the

00:59 constituency, their candidate is saying another.

01:03 Whether that's on the two child cap, whether that's on austerity politics, whether that's

01:07 on Brexit and that message is cutting through to people as well because they know that by

01:11 voting for the SNP in this by-election they're going to get somebody who stands up for this

01:15 area, stands against Brexit, stands against cruel Tory policies and that candidate is

01:20 me.

01:21 Our vote is very much holding up the people which we speak to.

01:24 So people in this area can see what happens if Labour get a little bit of power in this

01:28 area because Labour are currently running the council.

01:30 And the issues which are important to people, so whether that's looking at the sports club

01:36 fees which their children are having to pay, whether they're looking at the service which

01:39 they're getting from the local authority just now, that's the kind of issues that are at

01:44 the forefront of people's heads.

01:45 And also anything to do with the cost of living crisis, that's the number one issue which

01:49 is coming up when we're speaking to people on the doors.
