'The Independent' reports that Senate Minority
Leader Mitch McConnell has said that despite calls
for him to step down, he will finish his Senate term. .

The statement from McConnell comes after
a recent bout of "freezing" spells that afflicted the
81-year-old senator at two separate speaking events. .
When asked by a reporter for the "precise medical reason"
for the incidents, McConnell pointed to the official report
by Dr. Brian Monahan, the attending congressional
physician who said dehydration may have played a role.
According to the report, the doctor conducted , “several medical evaluations: brain MRI imaging, EEG
study and consultations with several neurologists
for a comprehensive neurology assessment.”.
