Warrnambool's Reggie Mast speaks to The Standard after being awarded the best on ground medal for the Hampden league in its interleague match against Ballarat.

00:00 I'm with Reggie Maas who's named best on ground in Hampden's interleague win today.

00:06 Reggie, how does it feel to get the win and obviously a pretty great performance from yourself as well?

00:11 Yeah, it's pretty big to get together, the boys usually play against and that sort of stuff,

00:15 so it's always a bit of good fun and yeah, it was a hard day but yeah, it was good to get it done.

00:18 You were also co-captain with Ben McLean, what was it like coming into the game and taking on that leadership role as well?

00:24 Yeah, it's something a bit new to myself and probably Benny as well,

00:27 but I think it's good for both of us to do it together and learn off each other and just lead the team.

00:32 You play with the Rebels as well and so you know a little bit about Maas,

00:36 but what was it like to come here with Hampden and take in a little bit of a representative experience,

00:41 but in a new format with interleague?

00:43 Yeah, it was good obviously to play here a few times,

00:45 but to get all the boys from locally down here just to show them what it's like to play up here,

00:48 obviously it wasn't too great today but still, the stadium and everything is pretty big.

00:53 You just talked me through the game a little bit, moments of dominance particularly in that first and third,

01:00 they got a little bit of a role in that second, but how did you come back out in the second half and put the foot on the pedal?

01:06 Yeah, we sort of came in at half time and just thought we got a bit sloppy towards the end of the second

01:10 and just said 'get our fundamentals right' and that sort of thing and then we come out and just mastered that and it paid off.

01:16 You talked to me a little bit about your role, I know you went defensively back in the last quarter,

01:20 but what was most important for you to bring to the team today?

01:24 I was playing as an inside mid, sort of a bigger midfielder, so just get the body over the ball and win it for us,

01:29 that was my main role and then played a little bit up forward and then yeah, as you said, got behind the ball in the last, so it's good.
