The Harrow Balmoral Southern Roos coach, Jai Thompson, addresses his team and talks with John Hall about the 2023 HDFNL grand final.

00:04 Two teams straight through, which means, you know,

00:09 we get to do this whole process together.

00:11 The next two weeks we can do what we wanna do

00:14 in terms of training, training Saturday,

00:17 really get around each other for a whole fortnight

00:20 and really soak up what this is

00:23 and what this means to the club

00:24 and what this means to you individually.

00:26 And make sure you do take the time to soak that in.

00:31 As I said on Saturday,

00:33 like this doesn't happen every year for everyone.

00:35 I played footy for 13 years

00:37 and I think I've played in three grand finals,

00:39 two losing and a winning one.

00:40 So that can be a long time in between.

00:44 So enjoy it.

00:45 People will ask you about it.

00:45 How you feeling?

00:47 Just chat to people, soak it all up.

00:48 Yeah, just enjoy it.

00:55 - What sort of challenge do you think Chippewa

00:56 have to impose in the grand final?

00:59 - I think they'll move the ball a lot quicker.

01:03 I think they'll work out ways.

01:04 They'll probably watch a bit of our defense,

01:05 bit of our zone and work out ways

01:07 to be able to chip through us.

01:08 They're obviously a fast side

01:09 when they do get their attacking game going.

01:11 They showed a few times in that last game against us

01:14 that they can move the ball very quick

01:16 and they can score very fast as well.

01:18 So it's definitely, you know, we won that game well,

01:22 but yeah, coming into the grand final,

01:24 I think it's, you know, once again, you start zero-zero

01:26 and if they can get their attacking game going

01:28 the way they want to, you know, that's a big threat for us.

01:30 So we'll shut that down.

01:32 Well, we've done plenty of work throughout the year

01:34 to make sure that we were right for this situation

01:36 and the boys should be fine.

01:37 I reckon they'll be ready, fit and fine.

01:39 I'm very proud of them.
