Air Traffic control disruption at Manchester Airport and what the airlines have to say
  • 8 months ago
The bank holiday weekend saw disruption to major UK airports, including in Manchester

Issues with air traffic control on Monday August 28 impacted travel plans for thousands of passengers after a network-wide failure.

Manchester Airport is now warning travellers of continued delays and cancellations due to the system fault.

Controllers were having to input flight plans manually meaning they could not process the same volume and "traffic flow restrictions" had to be implemented.

Although the issues were fixed late on Monday afternoon, the impact of the disruption is still being felt.

In a new statement released on Tuesday morning, the airport said: "Following yesterday's nationwide technical issue that affected air traffic control, there continues to be some delays and cancelations.”

It is urging passengers to check their flight status with their airline before travelling to the airport.
