The museum in New Delhi uses technology like virtual reality to take visitors back in time. They learn about how India achieved independence from British rule in 1947, and how what impact that had on the residents of New Delhi.

00:47 It led to the largest mass migration.

00:49 Yet despite of the extensive loss of property and life, there was no memorial or a space

00:55 where people can grieve.

00:57 And also to remember the millions of people who have lost their lives.

01:07 People started reaching out to us, people started talking to us, giving us their material

01:11 memory.

01:12 They were also, then they connected us to other people.

01:15 So this was like a people's effort creating this people's museum.

01:19 This is also a space for people to come and grieve, the victims of partition.

01:23 So we give them the space to talk about it, rethink their generational trauma.
