Introduced with Eight-Layer Fabric Ceiling, Deliveries End of 2023 , New Aston Martin DB12 Volante 2024

At 202 mph, it has the same top speed as the coupe.

Touted as the world's first "super rover", the DB12 is predictably getting the convertible treatment. Aston Martin's latest Volante model largely inherits the agonizingly beautiful design of its coupe sibling, offering unlimited headroom after removing the fixed metal roof. Instead, there's an intricate fabric roof with at least eight layers of insulation to keep the cabin quiet during the long rides typical of a GT.

At speeds of up to 50 km/h, the DB12 Volante takes 14 seconds for the roof to come down and 16 seconds to go up again. You don't necessarily have to be inside the car to operate the roof, as you can use the key to remotely lower and raise the roof as long as you're within a two-metre radius. The roof can also be operated when the high-performance convertible is facing headwinds of up to 50 km/h.

Aston Martin will sell its luxury convertible with a standard black roof, but customers can order the DB12 Volante with a red, blue or black/silver roof, with numerous options for body and interior colours. This is especially true if the car is to be ordered with bespoke touches from the Q by Aston Martin department responsible for highly customized builds for deep pocket buyers.

Echoing the coupe, the new 2+2 Convertible uses a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 671 horsepower (500 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque. It takes 3.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h from standstill, making it only a tenth of a second slower than the standard DB12. To be exact, the coupe will reach a compatible 202 mph (325 km/h).

All that power is directed to the wheels via a rear-mounted eight-speed automatic transmission that works in conjunction with a torque converter, electronic limited-slip rear differential, and a carbon fiber propeller shaft. Stopping power is provided by standard-fitted 400mm front and 360mm rear discs, but Aston Martin offers an optional carbon ceramic brake kit that cuts 27 kilograms (60 pounds). The DB12 Volante uses 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires adapted for this application.

As seen on the coupe, the DB12 Volante features Aston Martin's new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The multimedia system is complemented by conventional controls for frequently used functions such as heating and ventilation. Audiophiles can upgrade from a standard 11-speaker, 390-watt sound system to a Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker, 1,170-watt setup.
