Suryakumar Yadav gave India a big option for a No. 3 batsman when he scored a sparkling 57 off 31 balls against England in the fourth T20 international at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Yadav, playing his second T20 international but batting for the first time, smashed the first ball he faced from Jofra Archer for a six and then continued to play his range of strokes as India put on crucial runs in a must-win game. Yadav was in great form for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 and his innings will certainly make him a hot choice for the World T20 later this year. The India vs England series is tied 2-2. The decider will be played on Saturday (March 20). (Video and images: courtesy BCCI)

00:00 You hit your first ball for six of the bowling of the off-road.
00:15 So were you expecting that you would bowl a short ball?
00:18 And regarding your dismissal, were you a little disappointed with the incident that happened?
00:25 Firstly, I was very happy with the way things went outside.
00:29 My plan was really clear when I went into bat.
00:32 I have seen him in the last two, three seasons now in IPL also.
00:35 I have watched all of his games for international games as well.
00:39 So whenever a new batter comes in, what plans he has.
00:42 So obviously I had my plans as well when I went into bat.
00:46 And it was a great opportunity for me to bat at number three for India.
00:49 And yeah, I knew that he will come a little short at me.
00:53 So I really wanted to execute that and I was really happy with the way things went.
00:58 And about that dismissal, not really disappointed because few things are not in my control.
01:07 So the things which are in my control, I try and control that.
01:10 These things are just outside that and I believe it's not in my hands.
01:14 Obviously, as I have always said, the passion for this game has always kept me going.
01:19 I kept working hard. I only knew that I had only one option.
01:23 And as I said, I try and control things which are in my control.
01:26 So I just kept working hard, working on my skills, fitness, whatever areas, whatever boxes I wanted to take.
01:33 And I knew that when the time is right, the opportunity will come and I'll really grab it with both hands.
01:39 There were some butterflies, obviously, and I was really happy also when I got to know that I am playing and I'm going to bat at number three.
01:47 So I knew what I had done before, just followed the same process what I had done for playing for my franchise back home.
01:55 I batted at same number, same situations.
01:59 So I knew the situation really well and I also wanted to do the same things what I have been doing till date
02:05 and didn't do anything different, just went out and expressed myself the way I always do.
