00:00 So tell me man, being Executive of the Year, Billboard Power Players, how does it feel

00:03 to be honored at an event like this?

00:06 Ah man, overwhelming.

00:10 I have a lot of gratitude man for just even being chosen for something like this because

00:14 there's so many people, peers of mine that are all doing incredible things that, you

00:19 know, the award is really just for us, you know?

00:22 And it's tough for me to like accept it on a singular or sole basis because it's just,

00:27 you know, when I think about the work that so many great executives and entrepreneurs

00:30 and creators are doing, creatives and creators are doing, yeah man, I don't know.

00:35 I feel a little bit awkward to accept it but I feel humbled and deeply appreciative.

00:39 And it's so funny, you walked up, I was talking like, I've known you for 10 years, so for

00:43 like people out there that are trying to get in their journey, put their foot in the door,

00:46 like what's your journey been like and what would your advice be to them?

00:50 Wow.

00:51 Patience, perseverance.

00:55 The sacrifice is tough, you know?

00:57 It's really tough.

01:00 You know, understanding that you might be the only person who believes in an idea that

01:02 you may have and you'd be willing to chase it, you know?

01:06 Take it into other people and pick up believers one by one by one, you know?

01:10 It's all a part of the process so that would be my advice to be honest with you.

01:14 And then of course, we're celebrating 50 years of hip hop.

01:17 What's like a core hip hop memory for you?

01:20 Wow.

01:22 Core hip hop memory for me would be probably, you know, the first time like hearing albums

01:27 when I was 8 years old like EPMD or Public Enemy or hearing The Chronic for the first

01:33 time or the first album that I ever bought was Doggystyle in the 3rd of November which

01:38 happened, it has to be coming up on the 30th anniversary this year.

01:41 Yeah, just those moments are like, you know, just shaped my point of view today, you know?

01:47 And then lastly, where do you see hip hop in 50 years from now?

01:51 Something more relevant?

01:52 I love that, man.
