Typhoon Doksuri displaces thousands in northern Philippines
Typhoon Doksuri [local name ‘Egay’] hit northern Philippine provinces on Wednesday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain that resulted in at least six deaths and forced thousands of people to evacuate. The typhoon affected tens of thousands more with floods and other issues caused by its wide 700-kilometer band of wind and rain. While it slightly weakened, Doksuri remained dangerous with sustained winds of 175 kph and gusts of up to 215 kph as it moved west of Calayan on Wednesday night.
