00:11 During a September 2020 interview with British GQ magazine, the actor who played Finn shared
00:16 his thoughts on his once-prominent character in The Force Awakens being, quote, "pushed
00:19 to the side" in The Rise of Skywalker.
00:22 He said, "At the time, you get yourself involved in projects and you're not necessarily going
00:26 to like everything.
00:27 But what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much
00:31 more important in the franchise than they are, and then have them push to the side.
00:36 It's not good.
00:37 I'll say it straight up."
00:38 During a recent interview that was conducted before the actor's strike, Boyega was asked
00:41 by TechRadar if he'd ever be open to returning to the Star Wars franchise.
00:46 He said of his previous comments, "That was a few years ago, so they were the subject
00:49 of that particular project.
00:51 But I'm open to all characters and scripts that are enjoyable, have a great cast attached
00:55 and a terrific director.
00:57 So yeah, I'm open to all opportunities."
00:59 Earlier this year, Boyega reflected on his Star Wars experience as a whole and noted
01:03 how he now feels, quote, "comfortable" with his character Finn.
01:06 He told The Times of London, "For me, Star Wars has made the man, in a sense.
01:10 The experiences, the fun times, good times, ugly times, bad times, it makes you who you
01:15 are as you navigate through the industry.
01:17 And that has definitely been interesting."
