The government has criticised Opposition Leader Peter Dutton for comments he made earlier in the week arguing the position of governor would be tainted if it were filled by a senior public servant. Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume has defended the Coalition's stance while, at the same time welcoming the appointment of Michele Bullock.
