Gustav Imam, the curator and collector Sanskriti Museum talks about how Sanskriti museum started in 1991. Imam’s father had discovered one of the oldest rock arts in the region and as children, they also started to collect artefacts.

He emphasises on how Bihar and Jharkhand are not much different. Jharkhand has coal. There was mass displacement of people in Jharkhand. His father’s work was in an area where tribal people were being displaced. There was no rehabilitation programme then and he had witnessed these things as a young boy. Imam also talks about how his father also discovered tribal art. He had an idea he could use this art and museum to take the message to the people.

He also sheds light on the preservation of indigenous Art and culture with his Padmashree father Bulu Imam at the Sanskriti Museum in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, while also shedding light on the restoration and conservation of a history that has for decades been erased and invisiblised. Imam also talks about the Khovar Art discovered in Jharkhand and its shared history with Bihar.
