Celebrating 40th Birthday of Nameplate, New Fiat Panda 4×40° Limited Edition 2023

The model will be available in select European markets with nostalgic styling cues and references to the original model from 1983.

The aging Fiat Panda gets another special edition just in time for the 40th birthday of the Panda 4×4 nameplate. Honoring the first year of the original, Fiat will produce only 1,983 units of the nostalgic Panda 4×40°, which will be available only in Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland.

The Fiat Panda 4×40° is based on the 4×4 version of the third generation model, which has remained largely unchanged since 2011.

The body-coloured side moldings feature red 4×40° lettering combined with matching graphics of Panda silhouettes under the rear side windows. The model is painted white for a new purpose sourced from Stellantis and is equipped with 15-inch steel wheels with special center hatch caps. It also has red tow hooks, black roof rails and privacy glass.

Inside, the Ivory theme continues on the seat upholstery in recycled fabric, double stitching and red accents. Alongside the 4×40° emblems, we find 1983 and 2023 lettering on each of the front seats, as well as silhouettes of the first generation Panda 4×4 and third generation Panda.

Standard equipment includes a 7-inch infotainment system, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, automatic air conditioning, electric and heated mirrors, automatic headlights and wipers, height-adjustable driver's seat and rear parking sensors; from a Panda today.

The technical specifications, which will be announced later, are not mentioned. Production of the Panda 4×4 was discontinued, so we don't know if the outgoing model's turbocharged 0.9-liter Twin Air twin-cylinder petrol will return. In any case, power will be transmitted to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox with the aid of a suitable 4WD system.

Fiat did not reveal a price for the Panda 4×40°, which is described as a "collector's version". The model will reportedly appear at the "Panda a Pandino 2023" event, which will take place in Italy next weekend. Despite its age, the current generation of the Fiat Panda will last until 2026, but its all-electric successor is expected to hit the market in 2024 with a crossover stance.
