AT the age of 61, Cecile gave birth to her granddaughter. Her son, Matthew and his spouse Elliot, mentioned she had volunteered to be their surrogate to their doctor as a joke but this soon became a reality as Cecile went through the process and successfully conceived with their daughter Uma. This was also made possible after Elliot’s sister donated her eggs. Elliot told Truly: “So we always explain that Matthew is biologically Uma’s father. My sister is biologically the mother and Cecile is truly biologically the grandmother. And I’m biologically the uncle.” When the news went viral, the family were subjected to a lot of judgement including accusations of incest. Matthew said: “It's ironic that people can throw stones and say you're going to hell when it's such an act of love.” As the family celebrate Uma’s fourth birthday they have some exciting news to share…
