Construction work at Dimapur-Kohima new rail line in full swing

Indian Railways is significantly contributing towards the transformation of the Northeastern states by executing several new railway line projects.

Construction work on the new broad gauge railway line between Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland is in full swing and is expected to be completed by 2026.

The 82.50 km long railway line, which starts from Dhansiri station in Assam and ends at Zubza adjacent to Kohima, would bring Nagaland's capital city Kohima onto the broad gauge railway map of the country.

The Rs 6,663 crore project is being undertaken by Northeast Frontier Railway Construction Organization. Eight new stations viz Dhansiri, Dhansiripar, Shokhuvi, Molvom, Pherima, Piphema, Menguzuma and Zubza are included in the project.

It also includes 24 major bridges, 156 minor bridges, 6 Road Over Bridges, 15 Road Under Bridges, and 21 Tunnels of 31 km in length.

The construction works of a new broad gauge railway line between Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland will be a major boost for the economy and will benefit the local people of the region.
