Goldenrod – Goldenrod 1969 (USA, Heavy Psychedelic/Blues Rock)
  • last year
The only album of the heavy trio from Los Angeles (California). Consisted of session musicians: guitarist Ben Benay played on the albums "Friar Tuck", Kim Fowley, Mama Cass Elliot; bassist Jerry Scheff - Neil Diamond, Friar Tuck and Everly Brothers; drummer Toxey French - at "Friar Tuck", "Dillards" and others. We met on the recordings of the group's record "5th Dimension". In 1968, all three entered the project called "Darius". The joint interest in heavy music and improvisation resulted in an album, which was recorded in 1969 in Hollywood on Chartmaker Records. Then everyone went about their business. Ben Benay continued his career as a session guitarist. Recorded with Barry McGuire, Steely Dan, T-Bone Walker, BB King, Barbra Streisand, Beach Boys, Cher, John Mayall and many, many more. Jerry Scheff joined the Elvis Presley band in 1969, where he worked until 1977. He was the bassist on The Doors' LA Woman album (and, had it not been for Morrison's death, he might even have been a member). Seen on the records of Ray Manzarek, Bob Dylan, Barry McGuire, Elvis Costello, etc. Toxey French has recorded with Patti Dahlstrom, Free Movement, etc. There is simply not enough space to list all the musicians' projects here. There are hundreds of albums. About music - instrumental heavy jam psychedelic, with a powerful rhythm section and a sawed-off guitar.
