Marvel Studios has shifted the release date of 'The Marvels' from July 28, 2023 to November 10, 2023. The announcement was made via Twitter, with Marvel Studios releasing a teaser poster featuring Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel.
Disney's 'Haunted Mansion', directed by Justin Simien, has taken the July 28th slot previously held by 'The Marvels'. The post-credits scene for that series sets up the events of 'The Marvels', with Larson making a cameo.
It is speculated that Disney may have moved the release date due to fears that 'The Marvels' would not be able to compete with Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer and the Barbie movie, which both come out on July 28th. However, Disney did not completely abandon the date as they moved Haunted Mansion to July 28th, indicating it may have more to do with the quality of 'The Marvels' than competition from other films.
