The story begins when Mr. Dinkle (Bud Abbott) and Jack (Lou Costello) are sent from the employment agency to babysit Eloise Larkin's (Shaye Cogan) bubbly brother Donald (David Stollery) and little sister. To get Donald to sleep, Jack reads him the fairy tale "Hans and the Beanstalk," which is one of Jack's favorite stories. When Jack stumbles over a few words while reading, Donald takes over the reading and before long Jack falls into a deep sleep. In his slumber he begins to dream that he himself is the young Hans of the classic fairy tale. So Jack experiences the story very individually in his dream and meets many acquaintances from reality who now also play a role in this fantastic world. Let yourself be surprised!

Die Geschichte beginnt, als Herr Dinkle (Bud Abbott) und Jack (Lou Costello) von der Arbeitsvermittlung zu Eloise Larkin (Shaye Cogan) geschickt werden, um dort deren quirligen Bruder Donald (David Stollery) und die kleine Schwester zu babysitten. Um Donald zum Schlafen zu überreden, liest ihm Jack das Märchen "Hans und die Bohnenstange" vor, welches eines von Jack's Lieblingsgeschichten ist. Als Jack beim Vorlesen über einige Wörter stolpert, übernimmt Donald das Vorlesen und bereits nach kurzer Zeit fällt Jack in einen tiefen Schlaf. In seinem Schlummer beginnt er zu träumen, dass er selber der junge Hans des klassischen Märchens ist. So erlebt Jack die Geschichte ganz individuell in seinem Traum und trifft dort so manchen Bekannten aus der Realität, der nun in dieser fantastischen Welt ebenfalls eine Rolle spielt.
