Amazon to fire more than 18,000 employees in mass layoff

Amazon currently has a workforce of 1.5 million, a number that has been growing over the past few years.But now, due to economic uncertainties, the management is making drastic decisions. The staff will be reduced to 18,000 people and not 10,000 as previously announced in November.This was explained in a statement by the company's CEO, Andy Jassy.The cut will mainly affect the Amazon Stores division and the Human Resources Department.It has not been detailed in which countries these layoffs will take place, but it appears that Europe will be one of the most affected regions.In the United States, Amazon is the company with the second largest number of workers, after Walmart.
