Einstein's best known equation is the formula E = mc2, which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation". Einstein received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 "for his services to theoretical physics, and in particular for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect", which became an important step in the development of quantum theory.
