Dr. (H.C.) Ir. H. Soekarno (ER, EYD: Sukarno; Javanese: ꦯꦸꦑꦂꦟ; Javanese pronunciation: [suːˈkarnɔ]), birth name: Koesno Sosrodihardjo (EYD: Kusno Sorsodiharjo; Javanese: [kʊsnɔ sɔrsɔdihardʒɔ]) (June 7, 1901 1921 ), was
the first President of the Republic of Indonesia who served in the period 1945–1967. He was a struggle figure who played an important role in liberating the Indonesian nation from Dutch colonialism. He was the Proclamator of Indonesian Independence (together withMohammad Hatta) on August 17, 1945.
Soekarno was the first person to come up with the concept of Pancasila as the basis of the Indonesian state and he himself named it.
