The Oxford Circle ‎– Live At The Avalon 1966 (USA, Garage/Psychedelic/Blues Rock)
  • last year
The Davis, California band was formed in 1964 by future frontman Gary Lee Yoder under the name "The Hide-Aways". By mid-1965, the line-up was fully formed and the group changed its name to The Oxford Circle. The musicians led a very rich life with numerous concerts, almost constantly being on the road. In October 1965, at the local studio "Ikon" in Sacramento, they recorded about a dozen demos, from which two songs were selected by the producer and at the same time the owner of the studio Gary Schiro and the recording engineer for the future single. These were "Foolish Woman" and "Mind Destructiuon". The single was released in November 1965 on the small label World United and was a success. And the material for this disc was taken from the concerts that took place in October at the Avalon Ballroom Club. In 1967, the "turnover of personnel" began, Dehner Patten and Paul Whaley left the band, dissatisfied with constant touring and wanting to work more in the studio. Joe Louis Walker and Bruce Stephens were invited to take their places... But, having played in this line-up for some time, the team nevertheless broke up at the end of 1967.
