Layoffs Affecting Hundreds
  • last year
Layoffs across the tech industry have left hundreds of workers living in the U.S. on temporary visas unemployed and searching for new jobs before they are forced to leave the country. The tech industry has relied on the H-1B visa program to fill computer science and engineering positions. Reports compiled at Meta ($META@US) and Twitter ($TWTR@US) indicate that the latest round of job cuts at those companies has affected at least 350 immigrants. H-1B holders who become unemployed can remain in the U.S. for only 60 days until they find a new employer to sponsor them.
