Andrea Rochelle "Bunky" Skinner and Allan "Jake" Jacobs met at the School of Visual Arts in New York and performed in the Greenwich Village folk circuit. They appeared at the Bitter End on the bill with Joni Mitchell and David Steinberg and were written about in Rolling Stone. Jacobs in 1965 joined the folk rock band The Magicians that disbanded in 1967. Jacobs rejoined Bunky and signed to Mercury Records, releasing their 1968 self titled debut album. Bunky & Jake combined folk, rock, r & b and blues, with classic pop and rock of the 50s. The duo released two albums.
