The Congress Party has its new President, Mallikarjun Kharge! He won the presidential elections with 7,897 votes while his opponent Shashi Tharoor got about 1,000 votes. Mallikarjun Kharge will be the first non-Gandhi chief of the Congress party in 24 years. Rahul Gandhi had declared him winner even before the results were announced. Gandhi, during a press conference said that the new president will decide his new role and the question should be asked to Kharge ji and Sonia ji. Shashi Tharoor congratulated Mallikarjun Kharge on his win and wished him success.
