The government is expected to table the Political Funding Bill during this parliamentary sitting. The proposed legislation seeks to regulate public and private funding of political parties, to make the process of financing politics more transparent and accountable. While a step in the right direction, civil society has however called for allocations from public funds to be included in the Bill. Melisa Idris speaks to Dr Tricia Yeoh, CEO of the think tank, IDEAS Malaysia, about public funding included in the Political Financing Bill.
