Coastal erosion: encroaching sea threatens homes, livelihoods in France | AFP

In France's northern coast, two rockslides less than a month apart have alarmed locals in Le Tilleul. The erosion is a natural phenomenon, but the rise in sea levels projected in the coming decades due to climate change could accelerate it, putting houses built too close to the coast under threat. According to scientists, if emissions are not cut, by the end of the century sea levels could rise by one metre bringing on devastating consequences for coastal areas.
