India and China will complete the disengagement process at the Gogra-Hotsprings Patrolling Point 15 area in Eastern Ladakh on September 12.

Being a major development in the Indo-China relationship, Troops from both sides came forward to restore peace and tranquillity along the LAC.

Both sides have agreed to cease forward deployment in a coordinated and verified manner. This move will result in returning of troops to their respective areas. The agreement ensures that the LAC will be strictly observed and respected by both sides.

Notably, India and China have been engaged in a prolonged standoff since May 2020, which was worsened after the horrific clash at the Galwan Valley in June 2020. The disengagement process which was started on September 8 is aimed to reduce escalating tension among both countries.
