The City Beppu in the province Oita of the Beautiful Japan.
Watch as i walk through the streets and explore the 7 hells of Beppu.
That are 7 very different kinds of Onsens, that were made one of the cultural treasure designations of the Japanese government, it signifies a spot of unusual scenic beauty.

Beppu is well known for the Onsen steamed food you can buy Onsen boiled eggs and vegetables everywhere and even rent the steaming place, bring your own food and cook it right there in the fumes of the hot Onsens.
The flavor of the food turns slightly salty so you don't really need to season it a lot and you should definitely try the kabosu dishes (local citrus fruit)

They are called Jigoku (hells)
1) Umi-Jigoku, it is a scolding 98℃ and is mystically cold cobalt-blue this onsen was created more then 1200 years ago after Mt. Tsurumi errupted.
2) Oniishibozu-Jigoku, which basically means shaven head hell named after the the large and small bubbles of hot gray mud, that look like the shaved heads of monks.
3) Kamado-Jigoku, it is 90℃ hot and the Name stems from ancient times, where the fumes were being used to cook rice for the guardian God Kamado Hachimangu.
4) Oniyama-jigoku, the temperature is 98℃ and is also known under the name Wani-Jigoku (crocodile hell) this place has been used to breed crocodiles since 1923 and there are now roughly 100 crocodiles.
5) Shiraike-Jigoku (white pond hell), it is 95℃ hot and is called this name because of the colorless water, that spouts from the ground naturally and turns bluish white due to the temperature and pressure drop when it joins the pond.

6 and 7 will be covered in the next video!
