Americans Are Accepting Lower Wages to Work From Home
  • 2 years ago
NPR reports that the pandemic that began in 2020, has prompted several companies to continue experimenting with remote work.
Almost three years after the pandemic, nearly one in three U.S. employees want to continue working from home.
In a recent McKinsey & Company study, 25% of Americans say they could work at least part-time from home.
6 out of 10 employees say they are willing to work remotely at least once a week.
For NPR, 87% of workers who were offered "remote work" jumped on the offer.
A recent study shows that several companies have successfully capitalized on remote work.
"By using this reward instead of a raise, some say these tactics can help moderate inflation.
We concluded that a recent increase in the number of remote workers could reduce the pressure to increase wages. By doing so, the challenge of inflation becomes less important for monetary authorities. Efforts to reduce inflation while maintaining a constant level of growth may be easier to achieve."
