Ax was one of the more obscure acts in the late '60s psychedelic rock field.
There are at least 4 bands by the name of Axe. This one, however, is a band from Northampton, UK. They are considered one of the most obscure bands in the field of psychedelic rock and hard rock of the late 60's. In 1969 they released an album called "Music" in the original version (or "Music Axe" if alternative sources are correct, and also released as "Live & Studio"), and in more recent years, a live concert with the band performing cover versions of different songs has emerged as a CD called "Live 1969".
In the album “Live & Studio” the band is already very competent with regard to psych-prog. The album features very discordant guitar work, particularly on the song Ahinam, and great effects like on the song Another Sunset, Another Dawn. At other times the songs are quieter, with female vocals, even having a resemblance to Jefferson Airplane, Art Of Lovin and Peanut Butter Conspiracy, just listen to A House Is Not A Motel to see the similarity, as well as in the bonus track that was recorded live.
