Justice system relies on FIFO court staff in remote NT
  • 2 years ago
In the Northern Territory's most remote communities the justice system flies-in and flies-out. With no permanent judges, lawyers or even dedicated court facilities the NT's circuit court or 'bush court' is unlike the justice system in the city. The court travels from ajor centres to remote communities for hearings but recent funding issues have left some residents either unrepresented or forced to travel hundreds of kilometres to access a lawyer.
