Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the country's acting President on Friday. This comes after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled to the Maldives in the face of a public revolt against his government for mishandling the economy that has bankrupted the country.

Meanwhile, the leaders of India, US, Israel and UAE held the first virtual I2U2 summit on July 14. I2U2 is aimed at encouraging joint investments in six mutually identified areas — water, energy, transportation, space, health, and food security.
