Incessant rainfall washed away a major stretch of the Badrinath national highway on July 14. The vehicular movement was disrupted causing much distress to the commuters. The washed-away stretch is part of the Karnaprayag-Chamoli route that was built under the Char Dham all-weather project by NHIDCL. The district administration allowed the movement of small vehicles after a few hours of restoration work.
