It was 1974 when multi-instrumentalist and composer Bennie Maupin released his first album. "The jewel in the lotus" is a very experimental album, the music is free-jazz based, harmonically rich, with predominance of avant-garde, fusion and experimental sounds, fluttering unhinged vibes and ethereal landscapes.
