Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on June 26 opposed the new Agneepath scheme brought by the Center for recruitment in the army and said that the government should reconsider the scheme. Malik said that the jawan will take training for six months, when he returns home after six months' leave and three years' job, he will not even get married.

मेघालय के राज्यपाल सत्यपाल मलिक ने केंद्र की ओर से सेना में भर्ती के लिए लाई गई नई अग्निपथ स्कीम का विरोध करते हुए 26 जून को कहा कि सरकार को इस योजना पर पुनर्विचार करना चाहिए। मलिक ने कहा कि छह महीने तक जवान ट्रेनिग लेगा, छह महीने की छुट्टी और तीन साल की नौकरी करने के बाद जब वो घर लौट आएगा तो उसकी शादी भी नहीं होगी।
