Federal Government agrees to extend hospital funding

State and territory leaders have welcomed a decision by the federal government to extend hospital funding. COVID-related expenses are currently split evenly between the commonwealth and the states, but that agreement was due to end in September. A new agreement has been reached during the first national cabinet meeting under prime minister Anthony Albanese.
