European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen on Tuesday expressed hope that natural gas supplies from the eastern Mediterranean could help reduce the Eu's dependence on Russia as the Ukraine war drags on.

Von Der Leyen said during joint statements with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett a deal between the Eu, Israel and Egypt will be signed on Wednesday in order to "help step up the deliveries of energy to Europe."
