Qld power blackouts averted but concern remains

Queenslanders are being urged to closely monitor their use of electricity this morning with the state facing further risk of blackouts. Unexpected problems with generators and a surge in demand during the cold weather has combined to see demand outstrip supply. Powerlink Queensland oversees the state's power grid. Its chief executive Paul Simshauser says pressure on the grid eased a little overnight - but could worsen again this evening.
