After requiring residents to stay home for more than two months, China's commercial hub of Shanghai officially ended its lockdown on June 1, 2021, giving free rein to 2.67 million businesses, from corner shops to multinational manufacturers, to resume operations after the city brought its Covid-19 outbreak under control. The Post's Shanghai video correspondent Thomas Yau hit the streets to gauge the mood among residents who were finally allowed to venture out .
