UPSC के नए अध्यक्ष के रुप में मनोज सोनी की नियुक्ति की गई है, मनोज सोनी इससे पहले दो विश्वविद्यालयों में कुलपति भी रह चुके हैं। लेकिन मनोज सोनी की नियुक्ति के साथ ही कांग्रेस ने सरकार पर निशाना भी साधा है, राहुल गांधी ने ट्वीट करते हुए लिखा है कि के मनोज सोनी के अध्‍यक्ष बनने का अर्थ है UPSC यानी यूनियन पब्लिक सर्विस कमीशन की जगह यूनियन प्रचारक संघ कमीशन बना देना, इसके साथ ही उन्होंने इसे संविधान पर चोट भी बताया है।
