shor yunhi na parindon ne machaya hoga

koi jangal ki taraf shahr se aaya hoga

peD ke kaTne walon ko ye malum to tha

jism jal jaenge jab sar pe na saya hoga

bani-e-jashn-e-bahaaran ne ye socha bhi nahin

kis ne kanTon ko lahu apna pilaya hoga

bijli ke tar pe baiTha hua hansta panchhi

sochta hai ki wo jangal to paraya hoga

apne jangal se jo ghabra ke uDe the pyase

har sarab un ko samundar nazar aaya hoga

Urdu;
شور یوں ہی نہ پرندوں نے مچایا ہوگا

کوئی جنگل کی طرف شہر سے آیا ہوگا

پیڑ کے کاٹنے والوں کو یہ معلوم تو تھا

جسم جل جائیں گے جب سر پہ نہ سایہ ہوگا

بانیٔ جشن بہاراں نے یہ سوچا بھی نہیں

کس نے کانٹوں کو لہو اپنا پلایا ہوگا

بجلی کے تار پہ بیٹھا ہوا ہنستا پنچھی

سوچتا ہے کہ وہ جنگل تو پرایا ہوگا

اپنے جنگل سے جو گھبرا کے اڑے تھے پیاسے

ہر سراب ان کو سمندر نظر آیا ہوگا

शोर यूँही न परिंदों ने मचाया होगा

कोई जंगल की तरफ़ शहर से आया होगा

पेड़ के काटने वालों को ये मालूम तो था

जिस्म जल जाएँगे जब सर पे न साया होगा

बानी-ए-जश्न-ए-बहाराँ ने ये सोचा भी नहीं

किस ने काँटों को लहू अपना पिलाया होगा

बिजली के तार पे बैठा हुआ हँसता पंछी

सोचता है कि वो जंगल तो पराया होगा

अपने जंगल से जो घबरा के उड़े थे प्यासे

हर सराब उन को समुंदर नज़र आया होगा
