William Branham's Anti Biblical Rapture Theology
  • 2 years ago
Leaders of the New Apostolic Reformations sects that emerged as a result of William Branham’s ministry refer to William Branham as a hard-core fundamentalist who established core, Biblical doctrines and then simply went astray. Many of them build upon William Branham’s rapture theology and End-of-Days theology to establish new splinter groups. But is this theme accurate?

Some versions of Branham’s stage persona were fundamentalist with regards to Biblical text, claiming Biblical inerrancy and literal interpretation. He condemned ministers who were not. Not all versions of his stage persona were, however. Some relied upon extra and even anti-biblical notions. An example is the rapture theology these sects use. To establish his “type” for the rapture, Branham disagreed with the Bible text describing Enoch’s 365 years on earth. Branham claimed instead this was 500 years. This was not a later “going astray” – Branham started this theology while working with Jim Jones of Peoples Temple in 1956. He continued to do this throughout his ministry.
