In the 4th round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, negotiators are telling news outlets that Ukraine is demanding an immediate ceasefire. As Monday talks began, President Zelenskyy and his aides are demanding both a ceasefire and a withdrawal of all Russian troops from the largest country in Europe. After more than 2 weeks of fighting, China has also accused the U.S. of spreading misinformation regarding its role in the conflict and Russia is accusing “the West” of trying to force an “artificial default”. Additionally, certain sections of eastern Ukraine are still controlled by separatists who support Moscow even as Ukraine’s forces struck the de facto capital of the Donetsk region. Russian forces also struck an Antonov factory next to a residential neighborhood in Kiev. Finally, the EU is discussing monetary support for Ukraine along with a path to membership for the embattled nation.
