Aboriginal man looking to sue Government over year in detention

Aboriginal man Brendan Thoms has asked the high court in Canberra to clear the way for him to sue the commonwealth, after spending more than a year in immigration detention. Mr Thoms was released from detention following an earlier high court ruling that indigenous people aren't subject to Australia’s migration laws even if they are born overseas.
